Our whisky line is named after a street in the New Town of Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland. Great King Street has been home to the registered office of the Compass Box Whisky Company since our inception in 2000.
The New Town, built in the late 1700s and early 1800s, is a central area of Edinburgh and is considered a masterpiece of city planning. It is striking for its neatly planned streets and squares, and its Georgian neo-classical architecture, which we feature on our label. Edinburgh's New Town represents the Enlightenment thinking of its day, which we feel is an appropriate connection to the sort of thinking we apply to whisky.
